Overview

From landfill gas to renewable energy, the Sunshine Canyon Landfill produces energy to power nearly 25,000 homes.

The Sunshine Canyon Landfill, owned by DTE Biomass Energy, creates 23.5-megawatt (MW) of energy which is sold to Pacific Gas & Electric under a long-term power purchase agreement. This power plant uses 5 solar mercury turbine generators powered by fuel that was generated by gas produced by the Sunshine Canyon Landfill.

CSI Electrical Contractors, Inc. was responsible for the installation of the electrical infrastructure and the distribution power, and low voltage systems.
