1990 – OUR FOUNDER

In 1990, Steve Watts founded CSI Electrical Contractors, Inc., with three electricians, an administrator, and considerable personal risk. With a razor-sharp focus on delivering what CSI promised and doing what’s right for the customer, CSI emerged as an industry leader. Steve’s vision and personal commitment to doing what was right established a culture of integrity, innovation, and customer-focused excellence. This legacy has become the defining force behind CSI’s reputation and long-term success.

1990s – BUILDING THE FOUNDATION FOR SUCCESS

CSI’s unwavering commitment to excellence quickly paved the way for bigger and better opportunities in the early years of the company. By 1993, CSI had its first commercial job, followed by their first contract within the entertainment industry. In 1997, CSI expanded its footprint and opened a second office in the Antelope Valley to better support the region’s growing aerospace industry. During this pivotal period of growth, CSI invested in securing the right leadership to propel the company forward, including hiring Paul Pica, who would later become the company’s president and chief operating officer. 

2000s – EXPANDING MARKETS & SERVING OUR CUSTOMERS

CSI experienced explosive growth in the 2000s, strengthening its infrastructure and key service offerings, including the launch of a 24/7 Service Group and dedicated departments for Special Projects, Transportation, Low Voltage, Renewables, and Engineering, and the creation of an in-house prefabrication shop to support innovation and project delivery. 

As CSI’s capabilities and reach grew, so did its commitment to serving others. Following Hurricane Katrina, CSI proudly joined the Emergency Response Team in New Orleans, providing critical support to the Federal Aviation Administration during a time of urgent national need. 

2010s – BUILDING BETTER

Throughout the 2010s, CSI sustained its strong growth trajectory, marked by the opening of its Northern California office in 2013 and the significant milestone of surpassing 1,000 employees in 2014. CSI also continued to support California’s electrical infrastructure through countless renewable energy, healthcare, mission critical, industrial, and commercial projects. 

2019 – CSI JOINS MYR GROUP

In 2019, CSI proudly joined MYR Group, expanding its commercial and industrial reach throughout the United States. CSI’s partnership with MYR Group has expanded the company’s  financial strength, manpower, equipment, geographical reach, and stability, enhancing its ability to support our customers’ project delivery needs. 

2020s – LARGE CONSTRUCTION AT THE FOREFRONT

In 2020, CSI expanded its Renewables Department by becoming a full EPC provider and began executing some of the West Coast’s largest solar and battery energy storage projects to date. Alongside this expansion, CSI completed several notable large construction and mission critical projects, including SoFi Stadium, an indoor-outdoor multipurpose stadium with a capacity of 70,000, and Intuit Dome, an indoor arena home to the Los Angeles Clippers in Inglewood, California.
